As the clock strikes noon on another weekday, the students of KNCHS emerge from the school gates in what resemble herds of sheep. Their eyes are glued to their iPhones and other media devices. The truth laid before their eyes but covered by the rectangular metal as they chose to succumb to the lies as each click of their thumb.
Used mainly as a platform to convey information to the colossal masses, it can’t be denied that technology is beyond vital nowadays. Yet, no matter how blinding the light can be, darkness still lurks in. As technology continuously grows in advancement with the goal of spreading the truth, fallacies and misconceptions creeps in, directing the people to other way.
“Think before you click.”
This was Miss Universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach winning answer way back in the Binibining Pilipinas 2015 that’s still being reiterated until today. Her answer was projected mainly to the general public, reminding each one to be responsible of their own post for not everything we see is real.
We live in a generation corrupted with hackers and that fake news is evident. And for this to change, it must start within ourselves. It must also start with a click.
